Madonna di Campiglio is situated in Italy's Trentino-Alto Adige region with an extensive range of tree lined slopes. Ski beginners and snowboarders will get the most enjoyment from Madonna di Campiglio ski holidays although there are a choice of long winding trails through the forests for intermediates with a few challenging runs thrown in for the more advanced skier. Even better, you can set out from the centre of town and come back again without needing to remove your skis.

This is a large resort, and one of Italy's most well known, with direct access to 150 km of downhill skiing and 51 separate pistes, serviced by 24 ski lifts. It has fully integrated lift links via Monte Vig to the centres of Marilleva and Folgarida in the Val di Sole. Along with the lift linked skiing there is more ground available on the area pass, which includes the neighbouring village of Pinzolo which has its own ski area. Beginners signing up with the well staffed ski school will be taken to the gentle nursery slopes of Campo Carlo Magno which is away from the busy slopes. Experts can enjoy the thrill of Monte Spiral'e Canal Miramonti run or ski on the world class territory of the 3-tre run. If this isn't challenging enough, off-piste with a guide can be arranged. In addition there are 15 km of cross country trails. This is a brilliant resort for snowboarders with a half pipe and a piste for boarder cross. Trentino has hosted many international meetings.

About the village

Madonna's reputation for its apres ski almost rivals that of its skiing. As soon as the lifts close "people watching" begins with many of the wealthy Italian clientele decked out in their finery parading the streets. The numerous bars and restaurants manage to maintain a dignified presence until the small hours when the nightclubs really start to rock and often remain open until the lifts start first in the morning. One of the popular and lively bars is The Cliffhanger and a little more upmarket is the Cantina Suisse which serves cocktails until 7 pm and then has live music until midnight. The Zangola club, 3 kms away, is well known for its partying, strippers and wild nights. Accommodation in Madonna di Campiglio is plentiful and includes B&Bs, apartments and chalets. If you prefer the luxury of a hotel in Madonna di Campiglio, then again the choice is vast. It is a shopper's paradise with all of the big names in abundance.
