Lyžování Val Thorens

Located in the French Alps at a staggering 2300 metres, Val Thorens is Europe's highest village which guarantees good snow cover but can sometimes lead to freezing temperatures or total wipeouts. However, Val Thorens ski holidays offer its visitors unrivalled extended skiing with intermediates benefitting from the widest choice.

Val Thorens forms part of the Three Valleys Ski Area and has 600 kms of slopes branching out in all directions. In total there are 101 blue beginner runs, 146 red intermediate runs and 28 black expert runs, serviced by a combination of 93 ski lifts, 3l chairlifts and 52 draglifts. Beginners can enjoy Val Thorens with a good selection of runs scattered through the resort whilst expert skiers are challenged by the big moguls and access to off piste in the Maurienne Valley. In addition, there is a snowpark to keep the "boarders" happy. Val Thorens lends itself to skiers who enjoy travelling from village to village and taking in a lot of ski mileage and the range of slopes rate as being some of the best in the world.

About the village

Val Thorens has many mountain restaurants but some of them can be a bit on the pricey side. One which offers inexepensive tasty meals is the Chalet la Moutiere and another popular one is the British Frog and Roast Beef Restaurant which serves good old English grub along with a wide selection of beer. Another more traditional restaurant is the Chalet Les Sonnailes which is very traditional and rustic. The resort is quite lively in the evenings with a nightclub and discotheque staying open until late. Accommodation in Val Thorens is varied and caters for all budgets and if you like the luxury of a hotel, Val Thorens offers some good deals. The resort is traffic free and a lot of the accommodation offers ski in and ski out accessibility.

There is a good choice of shops and Val Thorens 1850 is the best place to go with a variety of shops ranging from clothes shops, jwellery shops and childrens fashion, in addition to small specialist shops selling regional products, perfumes and gifts.
