Located in the Ecrins area of the Hautes-Alpes department, the town of Pelvoux is fittedly part of the Grand Pelvoux ski domain that lies in the Southern Alps region of France. Pelvoux originally called “Pelva”, the “High Mountain”, gathers numerous hamlets spreading all over the bottom of the La Vallouise Valley and is the royal route to the Parc National des Ecrins. This history rich ski resort embraces the towns of Pelvoux and Vallouise and has been the scene of some great climbing exploits dating back to the 19th century and has inspired many more to emulate them in more recent times.

Perched at an altitude of 1200 m, the resort town of Pelvoux is now the winter venue for many a family and groups of skiers, proficient and beginers alike.

The Pelvoux-Vallouise ski resort boasts a vertical drop of 1050m from 2300m down to 1250 (the highest point being at 3954m), and has 34 km of marked pistes. 14 in total; of which 3 are blacks, 5 are blue, 4 are red and another 2 being green. It is also good to point out that one of the ski runs is skiable at night time thanks to its flood lights. The quality of the snow is generaly excellent and the nature of the National Parc des Ecrins surrounding it makes it an absolute treat destined to entice you onto the ski slopes. Free riders, snowboarders as well as hiker and trekkers will also find joy in this great ski resort.

Let us not forget the little ones and the beginners, who will benefit from the bottom part of the Pelvoux ski resort which is perfectly levelled for skiers who are not yet on top of their game and still needing tuitions. Additionally, a secure zone specially adapted for sledging can also be found in the lower area of the resort, higlighting once again the fact that everyone indeed will be entertained in this great winter holiday venue.
