Situated in a linear valley high above the Lac Du Chambon (lake) lies the ski resort of Les 2 Alpes or better known as Les Deux Alpes. The number 2 actually refers to a couple of towns to the north and south of the resort (Venosc and Mount De lans). In essence, if you are looking for plenty of action in Les 2 Alpes, ski holidays don't come much better than this.

The resort itself just seems to elevate right up into the sky. The base resort sits at 1650 metres and its highest point is the Dome De La Lauze which at 3568 metres is certainly not for the faint hearted. There are 27 gentle nursery slopes at a lower altitude of 1300 metres which is enough to keep even the most demanding pupil occupied. To add to this the resort has 45 novice runs and 18 intermediate runs as well as 14 incredibly steep and very fast black runs. It has 55 state of the art ski lifts which are able to transport 66,000 people to their destinations every hour and 191 snow cannons are on standby just in case the unthinkable happens. Snowboarders are well looked after here with some of the best facilities in France. There are also three separate snowboard schools if you are a novice.

About the village

The central road running through the resort is around 2 kms long and contains a plethora of restaurants (17 at last count) and over 30 bars. The apres ski scene here is lively to say the least and there is always something going on. One bar has a selection of over 200 beers to choose from. There are also 4 nightspots that stay open until dawn during peak season. Some of the best music can be found at the Café Bresilien.

Accommodation in Les 2 Alpes is varied and plentiful ranging from self catering apartments, lodges and chalets. If you need a hotel, Les 2 Alpes has a wide selection to suit taste and budget

As you would expect, the shopping here is good, offering a wide range of shops selling everything from high fashion, to beauty, crafts and gifts. There are also a number of food halls where you can buy anything from cheese to wine.
