Lyžování Chamonix Mont Blanc

Nestled in the southern Alps, close to the Swiss border dominated by Mont Blanc is the resort of Chamonix. Famous for hosting the very first winter Olympics in 1924, it is one of the most well known ski resorts in the world. Synonymous with offering the most challenging conditions for skiers, it used to be a place where "die hard" snow sport enthusiasts would get their kicks. However, nowadays Chamonix is very quick to point out that it offers a lot more than difficult terrain and is now forging a reputation on being an all round winter sport resort. This is why Chamonix ski holidays are incredibly popular.

The resort has over 152 kms of pistes and a wide variety of slopes ranging from 29 novice runs (46 kms) 25 intermediate runs (70 kms) and 14 expert runs (34 kms). Snowboarding here is some of the best in the world for serious boarders with the "Snowpark" staging some top competitions. The lift system as you would expect is excellent. It has 49 lifts which are capable of transporting 52,660 people every single hour. The highest lift holds the world record for being the "world's greatest lift served by a vertical drop" (3840 metres) not recommended if you don't have a head for heights. The resort sits at 1040 metres so snow is pretty much guaranteed throughout the winter season. On the off chance that it is not forthcoming, Chamonix has 96 snow cannons on standby just in case.
